Waka Kotahi has confirmed that walking and cycling path trials on the Auckland Harbour Bridge will not go ahead.

Waka Kotahi had planned to hold a trial day in November for the cycling and walking lanes, which was asked for by the transport minister.

But the decision has been made to cancel this event due to significant health and safety issues.

The risks for people walking and cycling on the structure cannot be dropped to a level where we can be confident that it is an activity that can be managed safely.
