A total of 177 people have been honoured in the Queen’s 90th Birthday Honours List announced over the weekend.
From Judges to Actors, boardrooms to hospices, sports fields to foreign battlefields the range of people that have made New Zealand better is astounding.
In the past a couple of dominate figures have dominated the list. However, this year the focus seems to be on people working within communities.
The top honours go to five new knights and two dames:
Conservationist Rob Fenwick
Philanthropist Michael Friedlander
NIWA chairman Chris Mace
Ngāti Toa Rangatira leader Matiu Te Rei
Retired High Court judge Ronald Young
President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Ellen France
Education leader Karen Sewell
