New Zealanders are flocking to vote early in the 2020 General Election.

So far 700,000 people have cast an early ballot.

Thursday alone, saw 113,377 Kiwis vote. This was the fourth day straight where the number topped 100,000 and it is expected to rise as we get close to the 17th October which is the offical Election date.

Just over 2.6 million New Zealanders voted in total at the 2017 election.

If roughly the same number of people vote in the 2020 election, then 18 per cent of the election has already been decided.

But the number of people who vote could be far higher – 3.39 million were enrolled to vote by the end of September, out of an estimated eligible population of 3.77 million.
