The cost of sending letters and parcels around New Zealand is going up.
From July, sending a letter by standard post will cost 80c, up from 70c, and large letters will now cost $1.60 – up from $1.40.
However, some parts of the postal system will see a drop in prices.Sending extra large and oversize letters within New Zealand by standard post will now both cost only $2.40, down from a previous minimum of $2.80.
The International Economy parcel service is being dropped, and the cost of sending a parcel overseas will go up an average of 4 percent.
The last price increase was in July 2012, when sending a letter rose from 60c to 70c.
This news comes on the back of NZ POST announcing that they are planning to axe between 1500 and 2000 jobs from its workforce of 10,600 over the next three years.
