New York makes yoghurt offical state snack

New York has made yogurt the official state snack after the state became the nations top yogurt producer.

The New York governor’s office says that making yoghurt the official state snack will help raise awareness of the benefits of the yoghurt industry.

A few other states have official snacks. South Carolina has boiled peanuts, Illinois has popcorn, Texas has tortilla chips and salsa and Utah has Jell-O.

The state of New York produced 741 million pounds (336 million kgs!) of yoghurt last year.
