A new spider bearing a close resemblance to the sorting hat in the Harry Potter series has been discovered in India.
The new spider has been named the Eriovixia gryffindori and measures just 7mm in length.
The spider takes its name from Godric Gryffindor, the fictional owner of the hat in Harry Potter.
It was discovered in the mountainous Western Ghats region of south-western India.
The spider mimics dried leaves and foliage in order to hide from its predators.
