New designs for Christchurch’s neglected Cathedral Square have been released.
The new ideas feature interconnected spaces for public events, paving and green areas for the once iconic square.
The designs, released last week, include an option for three enclosed pavilions connected by a lattice-style structure which would provide a year-round undercover area for markets and other activities.
The theory behind the new designs is to get more people back into the square.
A strategic plan will now be developed in conjunction with the Christchurch City Council on how to best implement the design.
