Whoever wrote the famous counting rhyme Hickory Dickory Dock back in the 18th century would never have imagined that kiwi children’s author Peter Millett would have ‘converted’ it into a rollicking rugby rhyme in the 21st century!
Following on from his exploits with My Old Man He Played Rugby, Millett has created another funny footy match between two teams of weekend warrior dads in Heartland, NZ – only this time the dads have to win the game before the clock trikes two.
Millett has teamed up with legendary kiwi illustrator Bob Darroch and the artwork in Hickory Dickory Kick features side-splitting humour including farting forwards in a maul and a pesky four-legged mascot called Buck who gets involved in the game with hilarious results.
Another kiwi legend, Suzy Cato, has recorded a video reading the story aloud to ensure that not only rugby is the winner, but reading is too!
