Year 11 students started with their 3 hour English examination this morning.
The session is the biggest out of all the exams across the levels, with more than 46,000 students sitting.
The examinations are becoming more and more important with less jobs and the increased university costs.
A staggering 1.4 million standard exams had been entered this year, with a high number of pupils sitting exams across all three levels.
