For sale: one 43-metre NZ Navy ship. Imagine your parents taking you and your friends out for a fishing trip on this boat!
The Royal New Zealand Navy has announced the Manawanui has been put it up for tender, closing in three weeks.
The Manawanui was the Navy’s diving and mine counter-measures support ship. It was commissioned into the Royal New Zealand Navy in 1988 and decommissioned on 23 February 2018.
The vessel is up for sale “as a going concern, as-is where-is”.
But buyers might want to be beware. It is believed the Manawanui might need major repairs, including engine rebuilds, which could cost up to $14 million.
There’s no word if the ship comes with its weapons, which include 50-calibre machine guns.
