A mystery shipwreck has been discovered off Wellington’s South Coast.
Rob Wilson, of Ghost Fishing, and two others were diving off Owhiro Bay on Sunday when they discovered the wreck.
It was found a long distance from known wrecks in the area.
It is suspected it may either be the wreck of a fishing boat, The Crescent, which sunk in the 1930s or from a section from a boat, Progress, already known about in the area.
Wilson planned to return to the wreck site when conditions improved, to better document the find and hopefully get some conclusion on what it is.
