Mt Hutt ski field has opened its slopes to dogs.

Last weekend the skifield held its annual dog derby and the race was on to see which dog had the best legs for running in the snow.

On the mountain were all sorts of dogs – labradors, huntaways, a shivering chihuahua and a leonberger, a even a German mountain dog.

The dog derby involves the dog completing a running race on the snow.

However, a cold day up the mountain meant tough running conditions for some of the smaller competitors.

But there was a clear winner. A German shorthaired pointer labrador cross called Arlo.
