A second sinkhole has been found in Florida, just miles from one that opened beneath a home last week and swallowed a man from his bed.

Thankfully this new sink hole isn’t a danger to anyone.

The latest sinkhole opened between two homes and was about 4 meters round and 2m deep.

Sinkholes occur when the earth underneath becomes unstable and then collapses in on itself. They can be caused by extreme weather, underground rivers which moves the earth and creates a hole or cavity.

Geologists and experts say they expect to see more sinkhole sightings throughout the Florida in the coming years.

Sinkholes are not considered a problem in New Zealand.
