Kiwi kayaker Lisa Carrington has won her third gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics. This time she comfortably won the K1 500 final in a time of 1:51.216.
The result means that Carrington is now the most successful New Zealand Olympian of all time. She has 5 gold medals in total.
In the 500m final Carrington led from start to finish. Her signature fast start was again her biggest weapon, after 100m she was over half a length clear of her nearest rivals.
Tamara Csipes of Hungary and Emma Jørgensen were second and third respectively.
