Melbourne and the state of Victoria are in lockdown due to a new outbreak of Covid-19.

Victorian acting Premier James Merlino made the announcement yesterday afternoon.

The lockdown will continue across Greater Melbourne, with some changes to schools and movement.

The New Zealand government will provide an update on the country’s travel bubble arrangements with Victoria tomorrow. This situation may cause our travel bubble to be paused.

During the lockdown Victorians will only be allowed to leave their houses for five reasons – shopping for food and essential supplies, authorised work or study, care and caregiving, exercise and getting vaccinated.

The 5km radius around the homes will be lifted to 10km and students in years 11 and 12 will be able to return to face-to-face learning.
