Star Wars fans are ecstatic and pleased after the iconic ‘may the force be with you’ phrase was translated into te reo Māori by Mark Hamill.

Hamill, who plays Luke Skywalker in the film series, was asked by a Star Wars fan page if he could translate the phrase.

The Māori translation of the phrase reads: “Kia kaha te kaha ki a koe!”

Hamill’s translation sent people into overdrive sharing their love for the star on social media.

The fan page who originally asked for the translation replied: “It sounds beautiful in Māori also…Thank you so much!”
