Maurice Williamson resigns from Parliament

National MP Maurice Williamson has resigned as a Minister.
He has resigned after it was found that contacted the police after a friend of his was arrested.
Despite explaining that he didn’t intend to influence the police this is still a serious situation.
Members of Parliamant are not allowed to use their position to influence the police or anyone else
John Key has accepted Williamson’s resignation and said that his actions were unwise.
Williamson has announced that he will still stand at the next general election, hoping to win his seat back into parliament.
