Marmite will be back in New Zealand kitchens by March 20, Sanitarium announced yesterday.
All the stocks of Marmite ran dry in early 2012 following damage to the Sanitarium’s factory in the 2011  Christchurch earthquake.
The company’s general manager Pierre van Heerden, said “It’s been a long 15 months” but he praised Marmite fans for holding in there.
At first Marmite was to return by July last year but the factory had more earthquake damage than first thought.
Sanitarium has now restarted its bulk production and will then start blending and packaging it.
The process of making Marmite  isn’t easy, because of the blending and getting the balance of the yeast just right.

  1. Yay Marmite I have been hanging out since 2011 for just a bit in my mouth of my toast and other things they better not lie this time because I have had to eat vegemite and it is just not the same the difference is the name the colour the smell and the taste. Come on Marmite don’t fail us now!!!!!!!!

  2. I am so glad that marmite is coming back I have missed it so much I can’t believe that it’s only been fifteen months now I can finally throw out the vegemite and replace it with marmite
    Your sincerely
