A Frenchman has built a new Citroën 2CV car entirely out of wood.

Michel Robillard, a retired cabinet maker, spent six years lovingly crafting the car at his workshop in central France.

The body of the car is made with Touraine fruitwood, along with the grille and the interior, including the seats.

Currently he is trying to get official approval from the French authorities for it to be taken onto the road.

Eventually, M. Robillard hopes to display the car in an art gallery.

He has already had approaches from people who would like to buy the car.
