A British cyclist has completed the first round-the-world trip by unicycle.

Ed Pratt took a mammoth three years and 135 days to complete the trip around the world – a distance equivalent to 10 Tours de France.

Mr Pratt left Somerset in the United Kingdom at the age of 19 wanting to see the world.

The nearly 35,500 km ride took him through the frozen mountains of central Asia, tropical Vietnam and Malaysia, the US and even to Aotearoa.

As a part of the journey, Mr Pratt also raised more than NZ$570,000 for an education charity.

Check out his video before he left the United Kingdom.
