After being sued over her hit Shake It Off, Taylor Swift found another fan in the judge presiding over her case.
R&B singer Jesse Braham was suing Taylor for $42 million (US) for allegedly stealing his lyrics. Jesse had accused Taylor using lyrics in Shake It Off taken from his song called Haters Gone Hate.
US district court judge Gail Standish disagreed with the case against Taylor and used lyrics from several of the pop singer’s hit songs to dismiss the suit.
In honour of We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together, Judge Standish wrote : “At present, the Court is not saying that Braham can never, ever, ever get his case back in court…”
She then continued with a tribute to Bad Blood : “…But, for now, we have got problems, and the Court is not sure Braham can solve them.”
The judge ruled that Jesse Braham did not provide enough evidence. Jesse will be able to file a new complaint if he can fix some of the issues the judge had with this case.
Judge Standish finished with acknowledgement to Blank Space : “As currently drafted, the Complaint has a blank space – one that requires Braham to do more than write his name.”
