A British reader has returned a library book 52 years after it was borrowed.

The book was returned to Lowestoft Library – along with a covering letter explaining the delay.

The book was found when a family was moving house.

Enclosed in the returned book was a cheque for £100 to cover the late fine.

The book, which has a date stamp showing it was due back in 1967, will be returned to the library’s collection.
