With a princess gown, limousine ride and royal entrance Lee Tangiwai-Thompson celebrated her 16th birthday in true disney style. Make a Wish foundation helped transform her uncles house into a disney wonderland after her multiple health conditions meant she wasn’t able to fly to fulfil her wish of going to disneyland.
The day was a nice bit of happy magic for Lee, who has had a very rough time for the last half of her life. After being born healthy she contracted a parasite when 8 years old. She now suffers from a range of health problems including renal failure, hypotension and an intellectual disability.
The effort that Make-A-Wish goes to in ensuring that ill children can have their greatest wishes desired is admirable. They granted wishes to about 250 children in New Zealand last year.
