A rare LeBron James trading card has sold for $2.2m at auction – nearly doubling the previous record.

The card features LA Lakers star James in his 2003-04 rookie season. This was when he played for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The card was one of just twenty-three that were made. The card was in ‘mint’ condition.

The 35-year-old 16-time NBA All-Star and four-time Most Valuable Player is currently chasing his fourth NBA title.

The card was signed by James and featured a small part of one of his Cavaliers jerseys.
