Speed lovers gathered in West Sussex, England, to compete in the annual world lawnmower racing championships!

Competitors could choose from 3 vehicle choices – a traditional push lawn mower fitted with a seat, a horse and cart lawnmower or a more modern ride on mower.

The unusual sport began in 1973 and has become popular in the last few years. The sport was originally created for normal people to take part in a motor sport that is less expensive.

The British Lawn Mower Racing Association does not offer any prize money or medals to winners, but the drivers are quite happy bragging about the lawnmower racing skills.

  1. I would love this! It’s a very unusual sport. They should get medals though 🙁
