The New Zealand Labour Party has selected former TV weatherman Tamati Coffey as the candidate for Rotorua.
The 34-year-old will try and become a Member of Parliament at the upcoming general election.
Mr Coffey said he was thrilled with the selection and was confident he would win the seat for Labour.
At the moment the seat is held byTodd McClay for National.
This year’s general election will be held on September 20.
