Kiwi doubles player starts Australian Open

New Zealand doubles player Michael Venus has started his Australian Open tournament.

Venus and his Australian partner John Peers won their opening match to advance to the second round.

The 10th seeds claimed a straight-sets 6-3 6-2 victory over Australia’s Alex De Minaur and Matt Reid.

Their next round will be against Korean players Min-Kyu Song and Ji Sung Nam.

Other New Zealand doubles players Artem Sitak and Marcus Daniell also began their respective campaigns as well.
