Kiwi cyclist George Bennet finishes 5th in his first race back

Kiwi cyclist George Bennett has finished fifth in his first race back following Covid-19 lockdown.

The climbing specialist was competing in the Tour of Burgos in Spain.

Belgian Remco Evenepoel won the event after finishing third in fifth and final stage between Covarrubias and Lagunas de Neila.

The 20-year-old Evenepoel had led the general classification after winning Friday’s 150-km third stage between Sargentes de la Lora and Picon Blanco.

Bennett finished with an overall time of 19 hours, 14 minutes and 42 seconds.
