New Zealand heavyweight David Nyika won his first round boxing match against Moroccan Youness Baalla.

However, Nyika’s dominate victory was marred by an attempted bite from his opposition. The incident occured towards the end of the final round.

The incident brought a strict warning from the referee.

In the bout, Nyika was very professional in his display. He picked off points from the his jab, where he landed slick combinations and showcased quick movement.

The result means Nyika moves into the quarter finals where he will face Belarus’ Uladzislau Smiahlikau on Friday morning.
