Kamala Harris has become the first woman to wield presidential power in the US.
Harris was given the President’s power’s temporarily when Joe Biden went into the hospital.
Joe Biden, the president travelled to Walter Reed Medical Center for a routine physical at 9am last Thursday to undergo a routine colonoscopy.
The operation was short and at 11:35 he rang the white house and resumed his position as US President.
President Biden will remain in the hospital for a few days to recover.
Short transfers of power have been made before. In 2002 and 2007, Vice-President Dick Cheney assumed the role of temporary president when George Bush was in the hospital.
