ACT Leader John Banks has resigned from his ministerial job after it was announced he will have to go to court over donations he received.
Mr Banks will still be in parliament but will no longer hold the position of Associate Commerce and Associate Education minister.
Mr Banks said he had told the Prime Minister’s office last week that he would offer his resignation if the matter was committed to trial.
The resignation of Mr Banks means National has lost two of its support party ministers – United Future leader Peter Dunne being the other.
Both ACT and United Future are political parties that support the National government.
Mr Key said he had accepted Mr Banks offer to resign as a minister.
