Italy wins Eurovision song contest

Italy has won the 2021 Eurovision song contest.

Italy’s entry was a glam rock band called Maneskin.

The Eurovision song contest, is the world’s most popular live music event and this year was held in the Netherlands. This year an estimated 200 million people watched the event.

The band sung a song called Zitti E Buoni which appealed to the jury and the public vote which counts for half the points.

Victoria de Angelis of Maneskin said the win was an important boost for Italy, one of the European countries worst hit by Covid-19.

A limited audience of 3500 attended the concert venue in Rotterdam to watch the performances after undergoing stringent testing for Covid-19.
