Italian adventurer, Alex Bellini, believes that very few people are prepared to make the lifestyle changes they may need to embrace due to climate change and has come up with a rather crazy plan to raise awareness.
Alex has come up with the idea to live on top of an iceberg until it melts!
He believes that witnessing something so dramatic will convince people to take action in preparing for climate change.
The icy adventure is known as “Adrift” and will begin in Spring of 2014 in the northwest of Greenland.
Alex will be set atop the iceberg inside a floating survival capsule similar to the super strong lifeboats used on oil platforms.
Alex has stocked the capsule with enough dry food to last him the 8-12 months he believes it will take for the iceberg to melt.
After it has, Alex and his capsule will be set adrift in the Atlantic Ocean until he is rescued by a passing ship – something Alex believes will take less than 10 days.
Although he will most likely be alone for most of the year, Alex plans to invite reporters from time to time to raise awareness, and will be reporting the condition of the iceberg through amazing modern technology.
He’s in for a chilly year! Good luck, Alex!
