Hundreds of people living in California have had to be evacuated from their houses as forest fires rage through their county.

About 1500 people have fled their homes to escape a wildfire spreading in the mountains of southern California.

So far two firefighters and a civilian have been injured since the fire started on Wednesday afternoon near the city of Banning.

The rapidly spreading blaze covered about 4000 hectares and was still out of control on Thursday morning.

Around 1000 firefighters were at the fire, supported by six air tankers and 13 helicopters.
