The hula hoop dancing world record has been smashed by 4,483 people in Thailand.

The participants had to keep their hoops spinning for seven minutes at Bangkok’s Thammasat University Stadium on Tuesday.

Not everyone kept their hoop up for the required time – 517 people went home hula hooping failures.

But the previous Guinness World Record of 2,496 people, set in Taiwan in 2011, was beaten.

The event was put on by the Thailand government in an attempt to remind people to exercise as often as possible.
