Around two million tonnes of rock has slipped at a gold mine in Waihi.
No one was working in the Martha open pit gold mine at the time and there were no injuries.
The slip was not a surprise as officials have been monitoring the wall since another slip one year ago.
There is still movement being detected at the mine, and further rock fall is expected, however on a much smaller scale.

  7. I have seen it in person and it is not to bad, only 2 million tons have slipped, and the even better thing is that it was expected so no one was hurt! Ok maybe it is bad but it was supposed to be solid rock the bit that slipped!
