The HitchBot, a highly intelligent robot, will become the first robot of its kind to attempt to hitchhike across Canada.
The HitchBot may not look very technological, with pool noodle arms, a bucket body and rubber glove hands, but it is in fact a highly intelligent creation.
The robot will attempt to hitchhike from Halifax, Nova Scotia, to an art gallery in Victoria, British Columbia.
It is uncertain whether the HitchBot will make it to his destination as the journey depends on the kindness of strangers picking him up and working together.
The robot will be able to communicate with those who stop to lend a hand with speech recognition software.
Its creators will also know where it is at all times thanks to GPS and the HitchBot will be able to post photos and texts about his travels to social media.
The creators will drop the HitchBot at the side of the road with his thumb sticking out to signal a ride, and when a car stops, the robot will ask where the driver is going and if he could have a lift.
This unusual and unexpected traveller is sure to brighten up the day of several drivers when they discover the intelligence of the HitchBot and it is sure to be an interesting experience for all involved!
