Experts in the USA believe that in the future your heartbeat could become your password.
Their concept involves using a skin sensor to measure the heart’s electrical activity— a patient’s electrocardiograph (ECG). These are often taken in hospitals.
Since ECGs are commonly stored in electronic medical records they could be used as passwords.
Zhanpeng Jin, an assistant professor at the University of SUNY Binghamton in New York, said that ECGs can do double duty and also serve as the key to unlocking those records.
Everybody’s got a unique heartbeat. It’s based on the size and shape of your heart and the orientation of your valves, your physiology. It doesn’t change unless you have a major cardiac event like a heart attack.
The method will help keep the records secure and private.
