Government unveils new housing plans

The New Zealand government has unveiled a number of new strategies to as part of a new housing plan.

Yesterday, Finance Minister Grant Robertson and Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern unveiled the plan to help first-home buyers. 

The new plan increases financial support for new home buyers and also changes the rules around buying and selling houses quickly.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said the plan will aim to get more New Zealanders into a home.

Housing Minister Megan Woods said the government will change the rules so that people will only need a 5 percent deposit before first home buyers can apply for support.
