Prime Minster Jacinda Ardern has announced a new government policy which will give New Zealand school students an iPad Pro.

The new devices will be given to all primary and intermediate students at the start of Term 3, 2021. Each child will receive a device, a magic keyboard and stylus.

Furthermore, students attending schools in the South Island will also receive a compatible Apple watch. Education Minister Chris Hipkins said that this is due to the internet being slower for towns and cities closer to the South Pole.

The new policy comes as part of a funding boost to the education sector. Ardern said the move will “elevate our education system into one of the best in the world.”

However, she did say the the devices would be fitted with special software which limited game time to only 33 minutes per day – the amount recommended by scientists.

When questioned by Kiwi Kids News reporters, Ardern confirmed that the Kiwi Kids News website would be the only news website able to be visited on the new devices.
