Born with her heart outside of her chest, six year old Virsaviya “Bathsheba” Borun-Goncharova has left her home in Russia to travel to America for treatment.
Her heart can be seen beating with only a thin layer of skin to protect it. The condition occurs in less than 1 in a million people and it is so rare that Virsaviya could not receive the surgery in Russia.
Several hospitals around the world have already refused to operate on the young girl due to the risks of the surgery. Boston’s Children’s Hospital have said they will not operate until Virsaviya’s blood pressure comes down.
She has now travelled to Hollywood in the hope of finding medications to bring her blood pressure down enough for surgery.
