Finland looks set to join NATO.

Last week Finland’s president and the prime minister announced their support for joining NATO.

NATO is the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation and is a group of European nations that pledge to help each other. The United States of America is also part of this group.

Finland shares an 1200km border with Russia and their aggression against the Ukraine is the key reason for them joining.

Russia has responded by saying the move would be a threat to Russia and warned of possible retaliation.
