Smoke from wildfires in the US state of California have caused the sky over the city of San Francisco to turn orange.

Over the last 3 weeks, numerous large fires have caused huge damage in California and Oregon. Currently, around 14,000 firefighters are battling 28 major blazes.

Wildfires have burned more than 2.5 million acres in the state this year, killing at least eight people.

Last week, strong winds blew smoke and ash from some of those blazes towards the coast.

Residents of San Francisco and the surrounding areas woke up to darkened, orange skies.
