The 46th National Agricultural Fieldays have started at Mystery Creek in Hamilton.
Fieldays are the biggest agricultural show in New Zealand and one of the most respected in the world.
Despite the poor weather the organisers are expecting around 130,000 people over the next four days.
The event was opened by New Zealand Prime Minister John Key.
There has been such demand from exhibitors this year that extra space has been made available on the 50-hectare site.
This year there are more than 900 companies with displays at the event.
