Most people had never heard about the Italian, Jacobs, but he had made impressive progress and broke the European record twice on his way to victory.

In the women’s race, Elaine Thompson-Herah from Jamaica, won with a blistering time of 10.61 seconds. With this time Elaine became the second fastest women to run the 100m sprint.

Elaine Thompson-Herah now stands as the fastest women alive, beating her team-mate Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. Jamaica took all three medals in the women’s race with Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce taking the silver and Shericka Jackson claiming bronze.
