The fastest 100m sprinters female and male runners have been found in the Tokyo Olympic games.

In the men’s race, the first place winner was crowned by Lamont Marcell Jacobs, who became the first Italian to win the most coveted crown in athletics. He won in a shock victory with a false start from the Great Britain athlete.

With a personal best of 9.84 seconds, Jacob’s broke his and the European record with a time of 9.80 seconds.

Most people had never heard about the Italian, Jacobs, but he had made impressive progress and broke the European record twice on his way to victory.

In the women’s race, Elaine Thompson-Herah from Jamaica, won with a blistering time of 10.61 seconds. With this time Elaine became the second fastest women to run the 100m sprint.

Elaine Thompson-Herah now stands as the fastest women alive, beating her team-mate Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. Jamaica took all three medals in the women’s race with Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce taking the silver and Shericka Jackson claiming bronze.

This is the second time in four years that there has been three women Jamaicans who have won all of the medals in the 100m sprint.
