England beat Blackcaps in first Test Match

England has beaten the Blackcaps by 5 wickets in the first of three test matches in England.

Joe Root has hit an unbeaten century to help England win over New Zealand

New Zealand set a target of 277 runs for England to get in their second innings but an unbeaten 120-run partnership between Root and Ben Foakes won England the match.

Joe Root has become the 14th player globally and the second England player to pass 10,000 test match runs.

The second test begins at Trent Bridge in Nottingham on Friday
