An elephant has killed his trainer in Thailand and run into the jungle with two tourists on his back.

The bull elephant was taking the tourists on a routine tour around the province of Phang Nga when the disastrous accident occurred.

The elephant was in heat, meaning he was looking to mate, and went wild. He trampled his trainer before running into the forest while the two Russian tourists clung onto his back for dear life.

The elephant was later found three kilometres away with the two tourists still clinging on.

The elephant was shot with tranquilliser darts to make him sleepy so the tourists could be rescued.

Bull elephants in heat are very dangerous and should be used as part of tourist attractions during these times.
