Emergency services recently smashed a car window to rescue what they thought was a baby trapped inside in terrible heat, but was in fact a realistic looking doll.

Kitty Mieles’ 2 year old granddaughter had left her doll in the car in New Jersey and the toy was mistaken for a real baby by someone passing by.

The concerned passer called an ambulance crew, who also believed the doll was a real child, and called the police to break the car window.

The quickly rising temperature caused concern for the ‘baby’s’ safety so emergency services say that they are not sorry for taking action, even if it was all a big misunderstanding.

The cost of the damage to Kitty’s car will be paid for by police.
