A dog that survived Superstorm Sandy in October 2012 and has been missing ever since has been finally reunited with his family.
At the end of last month, a woman in New Jersey who was out walking her dog, spotted a yellow lab wandering around by himself.
The Police Department was called and the dog was picked up by an officer, jumping into the backseat of the police car without any trouble at all.
The dog’s microchip was scanned and it as discovered that the Lab’s name was Wesley and the chip contained his family’s details.
Wesley and his owners, Miguel and Myra Cruz, were reunited last week. The Cruz’s explained that Wesley went missing a few days before the storm and they feared that he had not survived.
Wesley is unhurt and appears to have been well fed wherever he has spent the last year and a half.
Miguel and Myra say that Wesley is a member of their family and that they never gave up hope that he was out there somewhere safe and happy. They are both overjoyed to have their fuzzy friend back home.
