Novak Djokovic and Barbora Krejcikova have been crowned the King and Queen of the 2021 French Open. The French Open is a unique tennis tournament as it is played on clay.

Novak Djokovi won his 19th Grand Slam title. However, the Croatian had to work hard to Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final. He was two sets down before clawing back to win 6-7 (6-8) 2-6 6-3 6-2 6-4.

The victory moves Djokovic one major title behind the men’s record jointly held by Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.

In the women’s final, unseeded Czech Barbora Krejcikova claimed her first Grand Slam title. It was only her 5th attempt as she been more of a doubles player in the past.

Krejcikova beat Russia’s Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-1 2-6 6-4. The match looked to be slipping from Krejcikova when she lost the second set. However, she turned things around in the final set to claim her victory.

Amazingly, Krejcikova also won the women’s double title as well with Katerina Siniakova
